I was at a Leadership Development Planning Session last week at the BMO Leadership Centre in Toronto and was inspired by the design of the seminar rooms. The room had numerous whiteboards, bulletin boards and chart stands around the room to allow the creation and development of ideas as well as providing places to present key points and other visuals. When I returned to school, I started wondering where we could create our own Learning Centre. I was further inspired to create a Learning Centre during a professional development session with teachers. We are working hard learning new strategies and sharing our expertise and I want a place for us to post all our learning. A room for the Learning Centre was found and teachers have already moved our Literacy resources into the room. The room is approximately 14′ by 22′ and will have cork boards on three walls and white boards on the fourth wall with a group of tables in the center. I now need to decide what to put on the walls. I will share pictures once it is set up. Please send me your ideas.
Three walls of corkboards, one wall with two magnetic whiteboards (4’X8′) and cork strips above and below the corkbaords and whiteboards.
