I believe that almost all leadership and management philosophies, which are truly effective in the classroom and school, can transfer to the entire system. For example, Toyota’s culture of innovation to improve value added at the process is similar to the classroom teacher changing their instruction to improve student learning. Also, an innovative culture is important for school, departments and the system as a whole, as this type of culture allows all team members to own and be responsible for improving value added at the process, which is in the classroom. This is just one example, but there are many others.
